Marking the second Sunday of Advent, children and families gathered in our sanctuary to celebrate the season with art, crafts, our beautiful labyrinth, and fellowship. We made Christmon ornaments (read all about Christmons here), created Advent placements with different names for Jesus, decorated a celestial map to be used in our Epiphany Pageant, had fun reading Christmas books in our special book nook, played with a variety of nativity sets, and took many, many trips through the labyrinth, leaving a multitude of name scrolls for Jesus in his manger. It was truly a joy to be together!
Our yearly tradition of Youth Pie Baking is back in person this year! In two hours on Saturday night, we baked 15 apple pies, wrote notes to some beloved friends in the congregation, and still had time for pizza and games. A huge thanks to these thoughtful and generous young people and to all those who pitched in to make some deliveries this year. It takes a village.
An incredible evening of singing, fellowship, roasted hot dogs and S’mores was enjoyed by all ages last Sunday, with folks hanging by the fire and playing lawn games while the sky darkened above. The hot dogs were delicious, the S’mores were plentiful, and the joy of being together was a gift to all.
Be sure to join us next month on December 12th as we add an additional fire pit (two fires to enjoy!!), more hot dogs, and more fun!
Crisp leaves, bright pumpkins, festive games, and some amazing Halloween costumes set the stage for a wildly successful Fall Festival last Sunday afternoon! Check out the pictures of our fun together, and let us know your favorite costume!
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, children, families, and their furry pets gathered at Thoreau for a wonderful event of animal-themed blessings, photos and activities. We even invited Kerri and Luna, a special therapy dog team from Pets and People Foundation, to come visit us! The dogs enjoyed sniffing, barking and running around, and the children enjoyed cleaning up trash left on the ground (to show love and respect for the habitat of wild animals) and making dog and cat toys which will be donated to the Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury. You will see from the photos that a great time was had by all – human and canine!
What could be better than a crisp fall evening with great company and a roaring fire? Some sticky, sweet S’mores of course! Enjoy the photos of our very first Fire Pit Fellowship from last Sunday, and try not to let your mouth water too much with the delight of roasted marshmallows and melted chocolate. We hope you can join us on Sunday, November 7th for our next Fire Pit Fellowship!
Team WCUC had great day at the Minute Man March! It started with a team photo and blessing, followed by a crew of all ages doing the March together. Together, we raised $2025, gave out 50 flowers of appreciation to MMArc staff, and prepared 40 postcards to send to our senators in support of the Better Care, Better Jobs Act! Thank you to all of our marchers and supporters. God Bless Every Body!
Last Sunday the sun was bright, the picking was plentiful, and the donuts were delicious as almost 30 adults and children joined us for a delightful afternoon at Carver Hill Orchard in Stow for our beloved apple picking tradition. We were so busy picking and visiting and having fun together, I only got a few pictures, but it truly was a blessed event and it felt so good to be together. Hooray for apples and friends!
